Licenses and Permits

A license is required by law for each fishing rod used by anyone over 18 years of age to fish anywhere in Northern Ireland, except for sea angling. The Fisheries Conservancy Board (FCB) for Northern Ireland, issues angling licenses for the area and is the conservation body responsible for protecting fish stocks in the area. A rod licence is required for ALL freshwater fishing for each rod and line.

Both the license and permit entitle the holder to use one rod only. A separate license and permit is required for each additional rod used. A juvenile using more than one rod for either game or coarse fishing requires a full adult license and permit for each additional rod.
